How to edit a PDF online for free

The PDFTask PDF editor lets you open any PDF file and add text, freehand drawings, highlights, underlines, images and a hand-drawn signature directly on top of the page — then export everything as a new PDF. It works entirely inside your browser, so your document is never uploaded anywhere.

Steps to edit your PDF

  1. Drop your PDF file into the upload area above, or click to browse for it.
  2. Choose a tool from the toolbar — text, draw, underline, highlight, image or signature.
  3. Click or drag on the page to place your edit.
  4. Repeat for each page using the Prev/Next page buttons.
  5. Click Save & download PDF to export your edited document.

If you only need to combine several files first, try Merge PDF, or if you're starting from a blank page instead of an existing PDF, use PDF Creator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add a signature to my PDF?
Yes. Click the Signature button, draw your signature with your mouse or finger, then apply it to the page. You can resize and reposition it before saving.
Will the PDF editor preserve my original PDF content?
Yes, your original PDF page content stays exactly as it was. Your edits are layered on top and saved into the final exported PDF.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
You can annotate over a scanned PDF (adding text, signatures, highlights) but the underlying scanned text itself can't be directly edited since it's an image, not text.
Is there a limit to how many pages I can edit?
No, you can edit PDFs of any length. Navigate between pages using the Prev and Next buttons in the toolbar.
